CT Elite (co-ed) & CT Lady Matrix (girls) Travel Flag Football Program

Our CT Elite Travel Flag Football Programs are for kids who are looking for a more competitive flag football opportunity.  Our teams will travel regionally, and sometimes nationally to compete in flag football tournaments.  Our teams have traditionally done very well in comparison to other programs (several teams are ranked nationally), however we are most proud of the camaraderie and friendships that are built between our players and families.  Similar to other travel sports, our players will play against a higher level of competition however there is less of a commitment to flag.  We understand that other sports may take priority, so our teams practice and tournament schedule is often a bit more flexible with less of a financial commitment than other travel sports.  That said, we do look to recruit and place players on our teams who are committed to the team.

Some common questions we are asked:

Who can play?  Anyone who demonstrates the ability and desire to compete at a higher level.  We have teams at the following levels:

Boys: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U levels (age as of Jan 1st of the current year).
Girls: 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U (age as of Jan 1st of the current year).

How do I get on a team?  Tryout.  While some players are invited to our team based on their performance in our recreational league, we have tryouts annually in the winter/early spring, for players looking to join our team from other areas or for those who do not play flag football in one of our league.

What is the schedule like?  The schedules vary between teams, but are always based on coach and player availability.  We understand that each player potentially another sport to juggle, school and family commitments, and we always try to work our practice schedules to best suit the majority of those involved.  Tournaments are on weekends, and we typically participate in anywhere from 5-8 tournaments in a year.  The bulk of the tournament season will start in mid-late March and run until July.  We also typically compete in 1-3 tournaments in the fall.  Not every team will travel to play in every tournament.  We also understand that you may need to miss a tournament here or there, and that’s ok.

How much does it cost?  If you make the team, the cost for a typical season is around $400-$500 (before any fundraisers).  We do fundraisers throughout the year to help offset the tournament fees, uniforms and travel costs.  Each tournament costs the team approximately $500, and if you multiply that by 5-8, then you can see how and why the cost is what it is.  Throughout the year we seek sponsorship, donations and will do fundraisers to help families with registration costs as well as travel expenses.  Most of our tournaments will require at least one night in a hotel (depending on distance), so we want to do as much as we can to make this experience as affordable as possible.

CT Matrixx 7v7 Football Spring Travel Program

Our CT Matrixx Football Program is for high school football players who are looking to continue to work on their skills and compete at a higher level in the football off-season.

The 7-on-7 passing league team is a fun competitive, non-contact way to play football. It is all passing, played on a 40-yard field plus end zone, and allows scoring both on the offense and defense. Passing is now the feature offense, and thus defense, of most teams. Passing and catching take a great deal of practice to master. Participating on our 7-on-7 passing league teams offers athletes an exceptional, competitive way to hone their skills.

The 7v7 program is currently for high school athletes (12U, 15U and 18U).

BENEFITS OF 7V7 FOOTBALL:

*
Competitive, non-contact way to play football
*Opportunity for high school and youth athletes to be seen by college programs
*Compete at a high level and further develop football skill sets

Being part of a travel team is a family commitment.  We are a family and operate as one.  Each player on the team is valuable and needed in order to compete on a national level.  Coaches will do their best to schedule practice times and locations that are in the best interest of the majority of the team.  The expectation is that every player on the travel team attend all tournaments.  If you need special consideration, please talk to a coach about this.

A typical season will run from January to April and will include practices and 3-4 regional or national events
